Silicon Stoke Prospectus sets out the city’s digital ambitions

We’re delighted to see Stoke-on Trent City Council (SoTCC) today announced its innovative and forward-thinking Silicon Stoke prospectus. Putting digital transformation at the heart of the city’s post-pandemic – economic and socio-economic – recovery, SoTCC is delivering untold health, social care and educational improvements to the lives of its citizens and delivering invaluable opportunities to its business community.

At VX Fiber we are proud of the part we have played to help deliver the city’s pioneering 113km full fibre network. It is a project that has been funded by central government – comprising capital funding of £8.53m from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) Challenge Fund (full details can be found here).  Via our fibre-deployment business LilaConnect, we are further investing in the build of the necessary access infrastructure to connect over 100,000 premises across Stoke-on-Trent to provide gigabit full fibre connectivity to homes and businesses across the city.

This next-generation connectivity project sits right at the heart of Stoke-on-Trent’s digital revolution and is what will make the city so smart. What’s more it provides an impressive, and practical blueprint, that switched-on cities would be remiss to pass by. A huge congratulations to all involved.
